New GPS for the Holidays!

Happy Holidays !!
Wow, I can't believe it's been about two months from my last Blog.  Whats new you ask? My family got me a new Garmin 400t GPS for Christmas!  At first it seemed the compass was not accurate but after using it a while I find it is more accurate then my Blackberry running Cacheberry.

Boxwell's Box

Boxwell’s Box is a Multi-Cache located along the beach in Orange CT, Parking is very close to stage one where you have to do a little math, I am embarrassed to say I did it wrong the first time and ended looking for stage-2 on a side street. After figuring out the math the correct way, stage two and the final are very close to each other.

Family Fun Criters

"Family Fun Critters" is a four stage milti located in Guilford, CT right on Rt 77. The entrance to the trail is located at Dudley Farm. A nice short walk thru the woods, about 1.5 miles round trip, with a great view at the final. The stages have a great theme also which makes it fun. Found it with Lynn.

My Tenth Cache

"My Tenth Cache" is a puzzle cache with a twist. There are ten puzzles with results to ten different locations plus the posted cords so that makes eleven places you can look or...there is an easier way. Nine out of the ten puzzles has a key word in it leaving one puzzle without it, find the puzzle with the missing key word and that is the puzzle with the correct cords. I looked for the missing key word for about one hour then it just jumped out and I saw it, or rather did not see it. I had my son Michael help me figure out the cords and the next day I went searching and sure enough that's where it was. I was second to find! I also got our first Geocoin but that is another blog.

Roundabout

Roundabout is a cache located on a little beach in Orange, CT.   It has a small parking lot and a couple of benches to sit and watch the ocean or look for the cache.  The first time I was here I could not find the cache and after reading the logs, sometimes there are good tips in the logs, I saw some people had to dig for the cache to find it.  I stopped by again and used Google Maps Mobile to locate GZ and I dug in the sand and there it was.  This is not allowed for a cache, you are not allowed to bury it but I don't think it started out that way but as least it can still be found.
